5 basic tips for presenting yourself with a video

Since 2015, we've been making our own videos about experiences, products and destinations and we'd like to share some number-tested tips on how to get attention on social media and how to make your own video that's interesting to the viewer.

1. THE FIRST SECONDS MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

5-second quick cut of the best footage should appear at the beginning. They should convey what the video is going to be about while enticing the viewer. The more beautiful and surprising the footage, the more likely you are to catch the viewer scrolling through your social media content.

2. HOOK THE VIEWER WITH THE CONTENT

Try to give the viewer as much information as possible in the video that will be of interest to them and that they may not have access to elsewhere. How you deliver the information is also important. It works very well to get information from a positive person who speaks directly to the camera.

Film illustrations to go with the talk so people know what is being said. This way the viewer will perceive the information visually and auditorily at the same time. The video must not lose momentum, choose dynamic background music that fits the topic and don't lose pace with it. You can buy the music from music banks (audiojungle.com) or download it for free from the youtube music library.

When editing your video, choose a faster editing speed. But if you're confident that the footage won't wobble, don't be afraid to slow down.

Finally, go through the video again and be ruthless. Trim and cut. The ideal video length for social media is 30 – 60 seconds.

3. TELL THE STORY WITH THE CAMERA

Each shot should speak for itself, be clear about what it should show the viewer and show it as clearly as possible. Don't unnecessarily weave things into the footage that aren't being talked about. Make sure that your footage is as light as possible, this will make it clearer what we are watching in the video, the video will feel positive and clean. People are also more likely to notice it in social media content and find it easier to follow.

4. TECHNOLOGY

Smartphones today are capable of capturing beautiful, high-quality shots, especially outdoors where there is more light. But don't be afraid to experiment and try unusual shots from a GoPro camera or a camera. Even big-budget movies are now being shot on much more affordable cameras, and you can work with depth of field and luminosity much better than on a cell phone or GoPro camera. If you're not confident in operating a DSLR or mirrorless camera, don't be afraid to reach out to professionals or ask for help from someone who knows a bit about video. Your investment in video will likely pay you back many times over soon, trends continue to show its growing popularity.

5. THE RIGHT FORMAT

When exporting the finished video, adjust the format to the location of the video. On youtube it is 1080×1920 pixels, the video does not need to contain subtitles because on youtube the audio is automatically played when the video is played.

On Facebook it's 1:1 and subtitles there greatly increase the watchability. People watch videos on Facebook mostly without sound, and so they know what is being said from the subtitles.

It's easy to copy the video link from these networks and paste it into your website.
